One need only glance at the state-sponsored exhibitions and performances to witness the perversion of artistic integrity. Instead of celebrating diversity and pushing the boundaries of creativity, we are inundated with sanitized, state-approved productions that extol the virtues of blind obedience and religious orthodoxy. Dissident voices are silenced, relegated to the fringes of society, or worse, erased entirely from the cultural landscape.
But perhaps even more insidious is the co-optation of revered artistic traditions to serve the theofascist agenda. Across the globe, we see the appropriation of religious iconography and symbolism to lend legitimacy to authoritarian regimes. Paintings, sculptures, and architecture that once inspired awe and reverence are now cynically exploited to glorify despots and justify their atrocities in the name of divine providence.
The irony is palpable. The very essence of religion, which should inspire humility and compassion, is perverted to fuel the flames of hatred and intolerance. Instead of fostering unity and understanding, theofascism sows division and discord, using the arts as a tool to manipulate the masses and maintain its stranglehold on power.
As a critic, I refuse to stand idly by while the soul of art is corrupted by the forces of tyranny. We must reclaim our creative spirit, resist the allure of conformity, and defend the principles of artistic freedom at all costs. The pen, the brush, the stage—these are not mere instruments of propaganda, but weapons of resistance in the fight against theofascism’s insidious influence.
It is time for artists and intellectuals to unite, to raise our voices in defiance of oppression, and to reclaim the mantle of cultural stewardship from those who would seek to pervert it for their own nefarious ends. Let us not forget that the true power of art lies not in its ability to serve the interests of the powerful, but in its capacity to inspire change, challenge injustice, and illuminate the path to a brighter future for all.
